With hundreds of big social events taking place in San Francisco each year, it’s not easy to capture the attention of RedCarpetSF.com, which generally covers the biggest, high-profile events in the City.
So what a nice testament to the success of our first awareness-raising event that we are one of the few nonprofit events featured on the site!
The Epi Party was featured today at sfluxe.com, the website founded by BAAAB’s Director of Marketing & Audience Development, Damion Matthews.
Today the San Francisco Examiner had a small item on the Bay Area Allergy Advisory Board’s EpiParty at Le Club. We are so grateful to publications like the Examiner for drawing attention to this event, and help us reach our goal of raising awareness about EpiPens!

We are delighted to see that 944.com and the February issue of 944 Magazine have featured our Epi Party!
Our deep gratitude to 944 Magazine for helping us raise awareness about the vital importance of Epi Pens for those who suffer from severe food allergies.
We are thrilled to note that the Epi Party was featured today at 7×7.com, and we are told it may even appear in the March 2009 issue of the magazine. We love that 7×7 is helping us spread the word about the importance of Epi Pens to the safety of people with severe food allergies. Thank you, 7×7!
The Bay Area Allergy Advisory Board would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Todd Traina and Gina Milano, owners of Le Club in San Francisco, for generously donating the use of their beautiful establishment for our “Epi Party” on January 16th, 2009.

The event was a great success, and enabled the BAAAB to educate a large number of people about the safe use of an EpiPen in case of an emergency.
By providing such a fun and elegant venue for the event to take place, Mr. Traina and Ms. Milano made it possible for us to show that severe allergies should not prevent anyone from having a good time!
Le Club is located at 1250 Jones Street, in San Francisco’s Nob Hill. They can be reached at 415.922.2582, or by visiting www.leclubsf.com

Last night’s “Epi Party”(January 16, 2009) was a huge success.
The elegant evening, featuring Le Club’s “Epitini,” and drinks from Pearl Vodka, was held to raise awareness of the Bay Area Allergy Advisory Board (BAAAB) and its goals.
It is thanks to early supporters of the BAAAB that this upcoming event is possible. We’d especially like to thank our “Silver Trowel Committee” for their continued commitment to healthy living:

Welcome to Bay Area Allergy Advisory Board, founded in 2007 in San Francisco by a parent who has spent years advocating for the safety of children dealing with severe food allergies.
Do you realize that an estimated six to eight percent of children under the age of three suffer from food allergies, and that nearly four percent of all adults have them? In the Bay Area alone, that would amount to over 250,000 people!
Yet our local schools, restaurants, grocery stores, retail shops and other public places are sometimes ill-equipped to help someone who has been inadvertently exposed to a food allergen. This can have life-threatening consequences!
We hope you find our information useful; as always there are exciting announcements and resources coming soon. So check back often and always feel free to contact us with questions, comments, and feedback.

In A Nut-Free Halloween? Not So Tricky,” BAAAB Executive Director Mireille Schwartz was featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, for providing a list for consumers of allergy-safe treats for Halloween. San Francisco Chronicle, October 28, 2008.

Beat eggs until light and foamy; add vegetable oil, sugar, zucchini and vanilla. Mix lightly but blend thoroughly.
Mix together flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon; mix lightly. Add dry ingredients to first mixture, stirring to blend.
